Chardonnay from Bourgogne and Grillo from Siciliy

France is a country which I don't drink that much from and time to investigate some wines from Burgundy and name a Chardonnay from producer Patriarche  Pere & fils and it is called Chardonnay Bourgogne Couvent des Visitandines. The vintage is 2017 and the ABV is 12,5%. I get some tropical fruits with citrus and lime but with a long aftertaste of grapefruit.

Next up is a white wine from Sicily made with the grape Grillo. It is from producer Feudo Arancio and the vintage is 2017. In the taste I get tropical fruits like papaya and citrus. Very fresh and nice.

Baron Aime and Bolla

Not everything that sparkles comes from Champagne. Sparkling wine is also produced for example in Cremant de Bourgogne. Here they do sparkling wine according to the traditional method, there the second fermentation is done in the bottle. Baron Aime is a sparkling wine from this area. It consists of the the following grapes, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligote. The ABV is 12%. The taste is of apples, citrus and bread. It is like a mixture between a Champagne and Prosecco. A very good sparkling wine.

Bolla is a big producer in Italy and they procude the wine Tufaie Soave Superiore, which is a white wine from Soave of vintage 2014. It has and ABV of 13 % and consists of the grapes Trabbiano and Garganega. The taste is of pears, citrus and is fresh and good. A perfect wine for seafood.

A return to San Gimignano

I had the chance to try a couple of different wines. The white wine Vernaccia Di San Gimignano has became of one my favourites. This time I had the chance to try the producer Montendoli and a bottle from 2011. It has the characteristics of a Vernaccia but the aftertaste is not so much bitter almond as the other ones I have tried. Very good wine.

I usually prefer red wines from Italy than France and this time I have tried a bottle each from each country. First up is a Ripasso from Valpolicella by producer Castelforte. It has a taste of cherries and is not that strong, definatley not as complex as the Castelforte Amarone. Goes well with pasta.

Couvent des Jacobins Bourgogne Rouge is Louis Jadots standard Bourgogne red wine. It has a spice tasty but lacks something for me. Does it need a one or two more years of storage?

Couvent des Jacobins, time for a Bourgogne

What wine to have when the main course is fish and the starter is a carpaccio? I went with a stronger white wine from Bourgogne. Couvent des Jacobins from producer Louis Jadot. The nose of the wine were nice, a smell of citrus and oak. To my surprise it went well with the carpaccio. For the fish it was very good together. The taste of the wine were of citrus, plums and some oak. Good aftertaste.
