La Galtiere Cuvee Prestige

The Normandy area in France produces some of the best ciders in the world and I saw that Systembolaget had gotten some new ciders from Normandy. At last a chance to try some new ones. The one I tasted is La Galotiere Cuvee Prestige  with an alcohol level of 5%. It is from the area Pays d'Auge which is also famous for the Camenbert cheeses. The smell is vcery clear and distinct. The apple flavours cames straight through. The taste is very sharp and is full of apples as the Normandy ciders are famous for. A bit of honey also I can feel in the taste. Very good and goes very well with pork. Highly recommended.

Ecusson Cidre Bio Brut and food

When I was watching Masterchef Australia they cooked a french onion soup but instead of using wine for the soup they used french dry cider instead. So why not try it out as french cider is delicious during summer. At systembolaget there were one cider I havent tried before and it was Ecusson Cidre Bio Brut. A almost dry french cider as usual. For the french onion soup it added an extra taste. More depth of flavour while using wine gave a more sharper taste in the soup. Cider for summer and wine for winter. The taste is of apples taste and some sweetness, not as dry as the Boulard cider. It is also very good to drink with the onion soup and also for pork when having a barbeque. Only an alcohollevel of 4,5% for those wantning something lighter to drink.

Cidre De Normandie Boulard

It has been a while now since I had a french cider from Normandy. My favourite cider from Drouin is not available right now so I choose Boulard instead. This Cidre De Normandie by Boulard is very nice. It smells very nice and you can feel the apple character. The taste is dry and the apples is there again. The colour is very applelike. And to my surprise it went very well together with different assortment of cheeses. Normally I drink this cider at barbeques during summer.
