Despite all my travels to Bologna I have never tasted a Lambrusco as it does not have a good reputation. But finally I got the chance to taste one. And the Lambrusco Grasparossa it is decent. Nothing special about it. But one glass was enough, the second glass I felt to much sweetness from the wine. For me Lambrusco works best as a apertivo.
In this blog I will discuss good wine and food. Whisky, eiswein and everything inbetween.

Ferrari Rose
There has been a lot of Italian wine this year and this is the second sparkling wine from Italy that I have tasted. This is a Ferrari Rose from the Trento region. It is a non vintage wine. Now this is a quality Italian sparkling wine. Clear pink colour and with a taste of red currants and strawberries and it has a good lingering taste in the mouth. And for those wondering this producer has no connection to the car and is much cheaper.

Offida Passerina by Poderu Dei Colli
There is a special Osteria in Bologna called Osteria Broccaindosso. It is special because of the amount of different courses one can order. When ordering the anti pasti one will get maybe 15 small dishes. And for the dolci the sky is the limit for how many diferent dishes they will put on your table. The stomach will be full before they will run out of dolci. The wine of the evening was by the producer Poderu Dei Colli from the green heart of the province Ascoli Piceno. The Offida Passerina wine is made by the white Passerina grapes. Dry, intense and some spicy aftertaste. Good and delightful. As an aperitiff they served two different liquers. One Limoncello and one more spicy. Perfect ending to the feast.
As a reminder, Osteria Broccaindosso serves up a feast so go there with an empty stomach.

Good times in Verona
When in Verona there is a big winelist in every trattoria and La Taverna da via Stella is no different. A lot of different traditional Veronese food and with a lot of wine from around Verona. For the primi I choose a Veronese style gnochi and as a secondi stuffed duck with polenta. Very traditional veronese food. For the wine I choose a Valpolicella Vigneto Boccascalucce from 2010. The food was excellent, probably one of the best restaurants in Verona. The wine tasted very nice for being a red wine. The aftertaste had a very strong berry taste lingering in my mouth which I liked. And as a dessert I had almond biscuits with the traditional Recioto della Valpolicella. I could have two or three dessers like that. Yummy and the wine was good as usual. I love the sweet Italian wines.

Sauvignon Vallona Castello Serravalle
Each time I visit Bologna I make my way to Trattoria Tony to see if my tagliatelle al ragu is as good as theirs. For the food I had a bottle of Sauvignon from Vallona, Castello Serravalle. Tasted strong and sharp as a Sauvignon should. Went very well with the tagliatelle al ragu. And still Tonys ragu is better than mine. As a secondi I had mixed boiled meats with potatopuree. The wine was very good with this dish also. Good wine and a wonderful evening at Tonys.
